"Boto Mo, I-Patrol Mo: Ako ang Simula" Campaign

ASAP 09 had a grand special number this afternoon in where all the ABS-CBN shining stars join in the “Boto Mo, I-Patrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” campaign in their own way.

This campaign of the giant network, leaded by Garry Valenciano, Sarah Geronimo and Jericho Rosales, aims to promote a clean national election which will be held on year 2010. As we remembered, ABS-CBN launched this campaign as early as May 10, 2009 in some remote areas around the Metro Manila.

In the special number at ASAP 09, all the young artists were wearing white shirts and jeans, brandishing their “thumbmarks” of commitment while singing the song “Ako ang Simula” as their unique ways of promoting the campaign.

The idea of Boto Mo, I-Patrol Mo was just so simple and that is to get the people to care and to take action.

Modern technologies became popular nowadays in the Philippines specially for the young ones. You use your cellphones to text your friends and families. You use your personal computer to go online and use the internet connection to gather information, send emails, download pictures and games, login to facebook and friendster, watch movies at Youtube.Com and other more. Based on the statistics, Philippines still was considered as the “Text capital of the World”, and almost 20 million of Filipinos are using internet to login at Friendster that is why we are also considered as the “Friendster Capital of the World”.

In short, this campaign aims to promote people power with new technology. Everyone was encouraged to be vocal whenever they see something wrong or something good in the election process. If you will see someone trying to buy the votes then take a snap of picture using your cellphone and send it to ABS-CBN. If you will see your town mayor or any public official using public vehicles for his/her campaign, why not shoot a video using your cellphone and send it to ABS-CBN. If there are violences, tell it to them and after their verification process, they will immediately put it to air. Cellphone, in short, will become an effective weapon to fight for a clean election, and why not so the internet too as some source of transparency.

Singers like Rico Blanco, Aia De Leon and Raimun Marasigan collaborated the song “Ako ang Simula,”, which serve as the theme song of this ABS-CBN’s election campaign. A special video was also created which will serve as a commercial banner to promote the “Boto Mo, IPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” fight. This is a call especially for the youth to register, vote and make the 2010 election work as clean as possible.

Everyone was encouraged to send via email or text to ABS-CBN of your own ways of the campaign “Boto Mo, I-Patrol Mo: Ako ang Simula“. Login to www.abs-cbnnews.com and send your message via email or text IREPORT <name, address, message> to 2366 using your cellphones.

So don’t let this big chance for us to pass by. Let us all use our power to vote wisely. We have one year to create a clean election that we want, let us stand up and say AKO ANG SIMULA!.

ISANG ISTASYON NA MAGPAPAKILALA SA BAWAT MAMAMAYANG MAKABAYAN NA POTENSYAL MAGING GOOD MAYORS, GOOD CONGRESSMAN, GOOD PRESIDENTS!
